This stunning Royal Canadian Mint coin is the final coin in a four part series that depicts the fearsome predators of the Canadian wilderness. Minted in one troy ounce of the purest form of silver at four 9s fine silver (.9999) this final release of the predator series features a large grizzly bear, one of the strongest and most impressive mammals in North America and a symbol of the Canadian wilderness. We showcase the coin in perfect mint state 70 (MS70) condition. Only 100 coins have been certified as First Release coins in the perfect MS70 grade.

Design

The reverse design features a powerful image of a grizzly leaping toward its prey with teeth barred.  The following inscriptions: "CANADA", "9999" and "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR". Like the Maple Leaf these also include the micro-engraved maple leaf privy mark that shows a "19" when viewed under magnification along with the radial line background that creates a unique light diffracting pattern which provides enhanced security for this pure silver bullion coin for added peace of mind. The obverse then features Susanna Blunt's design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II along with the face value of "5 DOLLARS" and the year-date inscription of "2019" and the words "ELIZABETH II" and "D G REGINA".

Condition Mint State 70 (MS70)

Coins are graded on a 70-point scale with “70” being absolute perfection. In 1948, Dr. William Sheldon, a renowned numismatist, developed the Sheldon Scale, assigning number grades from "1" through "70" to coins. The basis of Sheldon’s theory was that a "70" would be worth 70 times as much as a "1." The numerical grades MS60 through MS70 are used to denote business strike coins that never have been in circulation. A Mint State coin can range from one that is poorly struck with many marks and hairlines (MS60), to a flawless, fully struck, lustrous example with superb eye appeal (MS70).

ANACS Certified label

A coin collector buys both the coin and the slab. In addition to buying the certification service’s reputation and a numeric grade, the coin buyer purchases the holder as a physical object. ANACS certified First Release individually numbered labels enhance and differentiate your coin from others in the same grade, serving a function beyond recording the coin’s authenticity and condition. The presentation and collectible value of these coins is enhanced by being identified as a coveted limited edition of just 100 coins.
