Sacagawea Dollar Roll Satin Finish Final Year of Issue
Item Number: NK5509
Sacagawea Golden Dollar, (obverse designed by Glenna Goodacre), was first issued in 2000 as a replacement for the ill-received Susan B. Anthony dollar coin. The Sacagawea coin depicts the young Shoshone woman with her infant son, Jean-Baptiste, slung on her back. In 2009 four new designs will be released. These satin finish rolls hold the unique distinction of being the final year of issue for the traditional design. These coins have a special satin finish and were not released for circulation. The satin finish is achieved by sandblasting the coin dies with millions of tiny glass beads.
