2020 1-OUNCE SILVER KOALA - INCUSE HIGH RELIEF PR70 ONLY 5,000 MINTED

We showcase the first-ever incused high relief silver koala coins minted at the Perth Mint in Australia. These are high quality, beautifully struck Proof coins minted from one ounce of .9999 pure silver. Each coin carries the “P” for Perth mintmark. Koala coins are considered to be one of the most beautiful coins in the world. Millions of them have been sold worldwide.

A special collectible feature of koala coins is the design changes each year. The Perth Mint has issued a tiny limited edition of just 5,000 coins with a first time ever incuse high relief design. Traditionally the design on a coin is raised above the surface of the coin. Incused means the design is stamped into or sunken beneath the surface of the coin. This rarely seen technique has been used to remarkable effect on these special edition koala coins. In addition to the design being incuse the background of the coin has a slightly curved appearance because it has a high relief strike.

This is the first ever incuse high relief coin struck by the Perth Mint. Firsts are always in demand with collectors. With a coin like this it’s important to get the very best coins certified in perfect PR70 condition. These special First Release coins are certified in PR70 condition by ANACS. Only 200 individually numbered coins have been certified by ANACS with the coveted First Release provenance.

• First ever Australian coin of any denomination to have an incuse high relief strike - Firsts are always coveted by collectors
• Tiny mintage of just 5,000 coins – compared to millions of regular issues!

• Special combination of date/condition/rarity & strike

Koalas have been issued annually since 2007 and were created to compete with the Chinese panda coin whose design also changes annually. The obverse of the coin always depicts Queen Elizabeth II, the reverse side changes every year, always featuring a koala, a marsupial native to Australia.
