2021 (S) Silver Eagle  PCGS MS70 Type 1 EMERGENCY ISSUE - General George W. Casey Jr. Signatures  – Rare Low Mintage Coin

2021 is the final year that American Silver Eagles will be minted with the Iconic Heraldic Eagle design on the reverse. In July a new coin design will be released by the US Mint. Firsts and lasts are always considered to be key dates that collectors value more than most other coins.

Because of the unprecedented high demand for this final coin and production interruptions because of the Covid- 19 pandemic, , the US Mint opened both the Philadelphia Mint and San Francisco Mint to produce extra coins. These coins are called “Emergency Issue ” dollars and are very desirable. The Mint announced they will make 495,000 Emergency Production coins at Philadelphia and 1 million coins at the San Francisco Mint. These low mintages make these Emergency coins some of the rarest coins in the series. This is the final coin with the iconic Heraldic Eagle design, these coins are called Type 1. There will never be any additional Type 1 coins struck, guaranteeing the special collectible status of these coins!
